About SAM

Sam has mediated more than 5,000 disputes worldwide and teaches negotiation to law students at the Indiana University Maurer School of Law. He speaks and consults around the country and authored the book, Positively Conflicted,  based on four decades of experience.

Numerous groups have honored Sam for his teaching, mediating, and speaking. Clients and audiences describe him as engaging, relatable, insightful, and funny.  His advice has immediate application.

Sam lives in the Midwest with his wife, Patty, and their Boston Terrier, Ernie Pyle.  They have three daughters, three sons-in-law, and six grandchildren.  His whole family has taught him enduring lessons about conflict that he is happy to share.
